The building El Panal 'The Honeycomb' was built by Marcos Juarez in November 1889. It was constructed by the engineer and architect Jose Franceschi and Francisco Comici Roncioni. In the 80's of the 19th century, the country was governed by a remarkable generation of enterprising men who believed in endless progress. With their public and private works they transformed the urban physiognomy of our cities.
The Honeycomb building stands out as one of these private works. It is one of the few left testimonies of this architecture which has practically disappeared.
A group of friends gathered and shared a refreshing beverage consisting of ice and honeycombs (panales). The gatherings were of political as well as social and festive character. This group of friends decided to found a society with their own building. On January 10th 1887 the Honeycomb Society was born and named after the beverage the friends shared.
The Grand Reception, the foyer and the living room in this building stand out.

The Honeycomb Building is located at 55 Rivera Indarte pedestrian street.

Residencias. Residencies. Four artists are invited to take a month's residence to participate in a research and participatory project with a school, community or other social group in Cordoba. Moreover, in residence artists will take part in a specific project together with professors and students at the HIGHER SCHOOL OF FINE ARTS 'DR. JOSE FIGUEROA ALCORTA'. Contrary to the more rapid, spontaneous and synthetic character of the works of art in public spaces, the aim of this section is to develop profound and more systematic projects carried out in a relatively longer period of time.

Invited artists:
MILENA BONILLA (Colombia)
RICARDO BASBAUM (Brasil)
SONIA BOYCE (UK)
MARIO NAVARRO (Chile)

El Auditorio. The Auditory is a series of conferences and debates. Prestigious guests from Argentina and from different countries all over the world will bring up the complex of problems of the City and of the new urban realities with the purpose to provoke critical thinking in the public.

Invited guests:
TONI PUIG PICART (Spain)
MARC AUGE (France)
LISETTE LAGNADO (Brasil)
DOUGLAS CRIMP (USA)
ADRI?N GORELIK (Argentina)

The City and its new urban realities

The City concerns have been a major issue that specialists in different fields have analyzed and studied. Diverse perspectives of such concerns in constant change and transformation will be presented in the Auditorium Program. Special guests who are specialists in different fields, such as Sociology, Anthropology, Art, Literature and Cultural Management will present their ideas about the present urban reality.

The so-called public spaces include not only the physical dimension – the architecture and the urban environment- but also the social dimension –issues, habits, discourses, behavior, conversations, etc.-; and the city, community and politics constructs. The public space is political because of its own constitution as a community; it is the ambit of tension, conflicts and dialogue that makes communal life possible. It is also a space for consumerism. When artistic works are performed or exhibited in public spaces, art intervenes, participates, highlights and constructs the public sphere. Taking into account these topics and the selection of artists and works of art of OUTSIDE! Art in Public Spaces, the conferences and debates that will be held at the Auditorium will focus on the following central concepts:

A) Art and the city. Urbanism, Architecture and their symbolic features. Habitats, buildings, accounts, memory, history. Diverse types of Architecture, different realities. Urban zones and social groups. Spatial artistic interventions in the city.

B) Art and politics. The influence of aesthetics in life and political art. The political dimension of art vs. art with political contents. Public space and the possibilities of creating public spheres through art.

C) Art and the community. Participatory art, relational art. New forms of socialization, new artistic practices. Micro communities, urban tribes. The aim of the activities in this section is to encourage the public to think critically through analyses and reflections presented by specialists
in this field.
