C Magazine and YYZ are pleased to announce the launch of Bill Burns's new book Two Boiler Suits and a Playlist: A Guide for Primates. The book will be launched at the C Magazine booth at the Armory Show in New York on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The elegant guide is published in Toronto by YYZ. It describes in words and pictures the chattels of the prisoners at the camps in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It also provides a playlist of the songs played to prisoners at the camps. Designed by Shannon Griffiths, the 52-page guide includes 18 black and white illustrations and two colour plates.
Two Boiler Suits and a Playlist is the last book of Burns's trilogy. The other two books in the series are Bird Radio, published in 2007 by KW in Berlin, KW|AG in Kitchener and Walther Koenig in Cologne; and The Guide to the Flora and Fauna Information Service 0.800.0FAUNA0FLORA, published in 2008 by the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. Bird Radio describes how to recreate the songs of birds of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Jordan and Chechnya, while The Guide to the Flora and Fauna Information Service describes how to preserve and protect plants and in the same part of the world.
Bill Burns would like to thank the Leon Levy Foundation in New York for its generous support.
All three books will be available in a limited boxed edition in Fall 2010. Limited edition enquiries are welcome at animalsafety@gmail.com.
