Following the resounding success of the-solo-project 2009, the-solo-project organizing committee is delighted to announce 2010 Edition of Basel's leading Art-fair exclusively dedicated to work by Contemporary artists. the-solo-project Private-view is scheduled for Wednesday June 16th, the fair will run until Sunday June 20th 2010 at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, coinciding with Art Basel.
In 2009, when many art fairs struggled, the-solo-project was able to buck the trend and establish itself as a gem in amongst a plethora of competing projects in Basel. Pioneered by art-dealers for artists, collectors and art-dealers, the-solo-project's non-profit organization further developed the original single artist presentation format and is now inviting galleries to present comprehensive Solo-Shows by one or two artists. This clear focus on solo-exhibitions rather than the usual often bewildering mixed dealer stock presentations that feature at other fairs, leads to a more in-depth understanding of the exhibited artists oeuvre and allows collectors to take informed decisions.
Visitors welcomed the clearly structured concept and layout of the fair. Many returned to view the fair on subsequent days, as Tefaf Maastricht's Chairmen Ben Janssens remarked: 'The Solo Project in Basel was the only fair I visited twice this year. I very much liked its clear and uncluttered layout, and the fairs formula that restricts each participating gallery to a maximum of two artists makes for a very enjoyable and relaxing visit.'
Strong sales, both to leading international private collectors as well as important public institutions underline the fairs unique quality, which is further aided by a strict gallery selection procedure.
With the help of one of Switzerland's leading communication design teams led by Valentina Herrmann and Hans Tanner, the-solo-project has recently completed a redesign of its communication material. A new website will feature the new approach we have taken to design and will be central to the forthcoming PR campaign. the-solo-project is proud to announce the appointment of Edith Moosbrugger PR based in Zurich as its new PR Agency.
The Fair is currently in negotiations with a number of new media as well as sponsorship partners and will be announcing its partners in the coming weeks.
The Galleries, Artists and our dynamic approach to how the works are shown will ensure that the-solo-project 2010 is recognized as a must see art-event when visiting Basel.
