On the Brink brings together emerging artists working in drawing, sculpture, painting and installation for a new exhibition. The works elaborate on 'tipping points', exploring instability and the tension borne of imminent change.
Artists such as Elena Damiani, Rowena Harris, Dexter Dymoke and Juliette Losq produce alternative landscapes and architectures, creating fragile structures and precipitous views. Others including Russell Terry and Gavin Weber build 3D works with cut paper or tulle, embodying a material tension and instability.
In contrast to these approaches, Emma Leach and Yasuhiro Onishi consider how the shifting events of recent times are interpreted into the black and white of press news bulletins asking, 'In what context can we comprehend change in these current times?'
The exhibition includes a commissioned text from Emma Leach, as well as a specially created installation work by Gavin Weber.
The exhibition is curated for SW1 Gallery by Natasha Vicars.
