Richard Harrison and Jakub Spanhel at DEA ORH GALLERY, Prague

Dea Orh gallery is proud to present two simultaneous solo exhibitions,'Abstract Landscapes' by the renowned British artist Richard Harrison, and '2011' by the acclaimed Czech artist Jakub Spanhel. The shows will remain on view until 13 December 2011.

Richard Harrison (b. 1954), received his BA and MA from the prestigious Chelsea School of Art and has won significant critical acclaim since his first exhibitions in the 1980s. He is the first British artist to have his work shown-and acquired-by The Chenshia Museum in Wuhan, China. Harrison's monumental landscape-based abstractions at Dea Orh demonstrate the remarkable power of his work in paint. The roiling, explosive applications of densely-layered oils in rich colors conjure tempests and wild seas. These canvases are sublime in the true sense of awe-inspiring, terrifying beauty.

Jakub Spanhel (b. 1976), one of the most prominent contemporary artists in the Czech Republic, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the departments of Jiri David and Milan Knizak. Spanhell will present his very latest work at Dea Orh, a series of canvases from 2011 which utilize a newly vibrant and more varied palette. The works on display depict architecture, floral still-lifes, and portraits in his uniquely atmospheric and expressive style.
