apexart is pleased to announce the two winners of the Unsolicited Proposal Program 2011. Over 7,000 votes were cast by nearly 150 jurors to determine the winning projects, which will be presented at apexart in New York during the 2011-12 season.

First place proposal: Miguel Amado (Lisbon, Portugal) 'The Walls That Divide Us' addresses the proliferation of political and geographical barriers around the world and the effects they have on everyday life. On view at apexart Nov. 9- Dec. 22, 2011.

Second place proposal: Mark Feary (Melbourne, Australia) 'A Postcard from Afar: North Korea from a Distance' is an attempt to envision a state and culture that is shrouded in secrecy and enmeshed in propaganda mechanisms. On view at apexart Jan. 11- Mar. 10, 2012.

About the Unsolicited Proposal Program:
apexart's Unsolicited Proposal Program is an opportunity for anyone from anywhere to submit an exhibition idea. During an announced call period, apexart accepts 600-word, idea-based exhibition proposals for evaluation by a large international jury. Submissions are reviewed anonymously and solely on the strength of their idea. Previous curatorial experience is in no way required and will not factor in the selection process. The two proposals with the highest ratings are presented at apexart's exhibition space the following season.

We will be accepting applications for the next Unsolicited Proposal Program from January 17 to February 17, 2012 and applications are welcomed and encouraged from around the world.
