On its 13th edition VIDEOEX festival again exposes the heart of experimental film by giving the public the chance to enjoy nine days of an alternative experience of cinema.
Out of about 2000 submissions from all over the world for the International and Swiss competition, about 50 films will be shown and rated by the jury.
In this years guest city program VIDEOEX will present films from Brussels of several decades (e.g. Henri Storck, Charles Dekeukeleire, Marcel Broodthaers, Chantal Akerman, Boris Lehman, Johan Grimonprez, Nicolas Provost). Contemporary Belgian artists will introduce their work during the festival.
Specials will be about Bruce Conner (his films will be shown in original format) and Andrei Ujicas The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu.
A key element of the festival is audience participation. Discussions offer the possibility of exchange between artist and visitor. In workshops film material is getting manipulated and processed, kids learn how to work with image and movement and how to create a short animation movie.
In addition, VIDEOEX surprises with extraordinary audiovisual live perfomances and installations.
