The Young Masters Art Prize is a not-for-profit initiative that was launched in 2009 by London-based American gallerist, Cynthia Corbett. The prize looks for artists who combine innovation with awareness of the Old Masters and the art of the past. 'Old Masters' in the meaning of the prize refers not just to Europe but also to wider, global artistic traditions, ranging from the pyramids of Egypt to the building of the Taj Mahal and later.
The Young Masters Art Prize 2012 is open to artists living in the UK and overseas, both in Europe and further afield. We welcome artists working in a vast range of practices: painting, sculpture and installation, printmaking, drawing, video and sound. Our aim is to encourage emerging and newly established artists to apply, as well as those who are perhaps established abroad but less well known in the UK.
The Young Masters Art Prize 2012 is open for applications now until 30 April, 2012. For more information and application guidelines please see our website: www.young-masters.co.uk. Alternatively, please contact the Young Masters Art Prize Coordinator, Annabel Cary: info@young-masters.co.uk
