Louise Alexander Gallery at Contemporary Istanbul 2012

Louise Alexander Gallery is delighted to announce it's first participation to Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair between 22nd and 25th November 2012 located at booth IKM403. Presenting a preeminent collection of works from iconic and mid career French and international artists: Guy Bourdin, Sabine Pigalle, Laurent Bolognini, Pascal Haudressy and Vuk Vidor. Laurent Bolognini, Pascal Haudressy and Sabine Pigalle works are amongst important Turkish collections including Borusan Contemporary.

Guy Bourdin (1928-1991) was born in Paris creating timeless images that contained fascinating stories, intense compositions and hyper real colours. Guy Bourdin captured the imagination of a whole generation and is considered to be one of the most daring and intriguing artists in the world of 20th century visual culture, his career spanning over three decades. Today, his work is exhibited in the most prestigious museums, such as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Jeu de Paume, and The National Museum of China in Beijing.

Laurent Bolognini was born in Saint Germain en Laye (France) in 1959. After studying at the 'Societé Française de Photographie,' Laurent Bolognini launched his career as a light designer conceiving his first luminous backdrop for musical circles and legendary opera. Inspired by Kinetic art movement, Bolognini extended his range of exploration.
His work is now amongst important collections throughout Europe including Mac/Val Museum in France, Borusan Contemporary in Istanbul, etc.

Pascal Haudressy, born in 1968, Paris is a plastician artist. Following ten years managing the UNESCO cultural projects alongside a number of international artists he began devoting his time to his own creative works exclusively. These works rooted existential questions about the future of mankind; pure aesthetics with strong symbolism and the concept of 'Transitions' are at the centre of the artist's preoccupations.

Sabine Pigalle is a photographer and an artist born in 1963, Rouen (France). Former French Literature student (Sorbonne) and assistant of Helmut Newton, Sabine Pigalle creates hybrid portraits creating a bridge between the two vehicles that are painting and photography, equally powerful tools for portraiture, but also between representation and abstraction, past and contemporary art.

Vuk Vidor, born 1965 in Belgrade, Serbia, lives and works in Paris. Graduated from the École dʼArchitecture, Paris and director of the Serbian Cultural Center in Paris since 2011. The work of Serbian/French artist Vuk Vidor, centres around a double sided fascination of the absence of historical conscience in the modern world. This is an absence that leads to strange reinventions of dead mythology. With his double background in both Eastern Serbia and Western France, Vuk Vidor's work puts its finger on many of the tensions in European civilization - both here in Europe and America. The modern, expressed in Vuk Vidor's classic pop art style, contrasted with the weight of history, expressed in the monumental baroque compositions of the works. His last project 'Newton' brings 'The Man who fell to Earth' back to life continuing the story and extending it in a large body of works.
