The contemporary art fair re-launched under new management.

Berlin, March 7th 2012. The 9th BERLINER LISTE fair will take place September 13th to 16th, 2012. International galleries, projects, art groups and individuals are invited to apply until July 31st to have their latest and best pieces exhibited at Berlin's largest art fair. The Trafo exhibition space in the Mitte district has been selected to provide an optimal atmosphere for modern art thanks to its ecclesiastical architecture. Last year the BERLINER LISTE attracted around 10,000 art collectors, gallery owners and private buyers and was a fantastic critical success, highlighting Berlin as an exciting and lucrative art scene.

Jörgen Golz, the BERLINER LISTE's new managing director intends to capitalise on the fair's potential and consolidate Berlin's image in the art world. 'We want to emphasise the unconventional nature of the BERLINER LISTE and really show what an exciting stage Berlin offers aspiring artists, free of old-fashioned clichés and cliquey connections,' he says. 'The location, concept and organization as well as the featured art will be groundbreaking to make the BERLINER LISTE a meeting point and playground for both exhibitors and visitors to feel welcome and to network with inspiring business contacts.'

The spectrum of art on display ranges from contemporary paintings, drawings and graphics to installations, video art, performances and photography. Work simply should be of a high quality to be considered. Dr. Gerhard Charles Rump is the fair's new consultant and will make the final decisions on the participating artists. Rather than promoting reputed artists, the utmost focus of the BERLINER LISTE is gifting extra-ordinary and unusual discoveries an opportunity for market exposure.

'The BERLINER LISTE is a fair for explorers, with avant-garde character and a real, living audience. Virtual spaces have limited suitability for this. The fair also exhibits artist presentations to underscore the notion that the fair's character is 'unplugged' and free of stuffy academic stereotypes,' stresses Dr. Rump. 'The fair doesn't dwell in familiar, tiresome surroundings but is an adventurous whitewater rafting excursion. Taking all the risks, but all the chances too – something we should all embrace!'

The BERLINER LISTE takes place Thursday, September 13th to Sunday, September 16th 2012.
Opening party: Wednesday, September 12th from 6pm in TRAFO and Club TRESOR.
