The association of Berlin Merchants and Industrialists (VBKI) addresses the upcoming and future businesses of Berlin in 2012. In the culture committee of the VBKI the art world has always been discussed and supported. It is now time to focus the art market as an economic driver and its economic role within Berlin, to support it politically and to take care of its players (artist, galleries etc.). This panel discussion shall add weight to this concern and discuss the state of the art and perspectives of the art world in an international context and related to the importance of online markets in the art world. Furthermore, we will address the role of the artist in the art world and the question whether art is a good investment in times of financial and economic crisis.
