The Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg offers 22 courses taught by distinguished artists from Europe, America, Asia and Africa. Take a chance to participate in courses, there are still some places available:
Lin Cheung, The social life of jewellery2
This course encourages a sideways look at jewellery by treating it as a social phenomenon to observe, discuss and explore what the mind and senses notice. It will pay particular attention to how the ideas that surround jewellery can be re-presented through the use of both jewellery-making techniques and the experimental use of simple image-making and sound. The focus is primarily on concepts of jewellery and how to stimulate possibilities for making and communicating these ideas.
Duration: 16 July - 4 August 2012

Tania Bruguera, Political Timing Specific
Political Timing Specific is a new term for a working method in which the piece is linked to and depends on the political circumstances existing in the moment it is made or exhibited; it is a type of artwork created to exist at a specific political moment. The workshop will be discussing and creating works that could operate in the interaction between art and politics while understanding the challenging roles of creativity in times of political operability and of artistic relevance. The media are performance, video, public art and behaviour art.
Duration: 16 July – 4 August 2012

Martin Schmidl, The practice of drawing
The starting-point of this course is the development of a project of the student's own choice, from the design through the realisation to the presentation.
Focal points will include casting a critical eye over models, orientation within the context of contemporary art, confrontation of one's own strengths and weaknesses, and routines of drawing.
Concentrated study of the fundamentals of the practice of drawing, such as sketching, nude drawing and reproducing patterns, will be directed at developing independent artistic projects.
