Prism of Reality
PRISM OF REALITY is pleased to announce the HARD RELEASE of its inaugural issue.
A Prism of Reality: a self-evident visuality, a metaphor that declares the truth of the image it produces. A prism of reality clarifies nothing; yet it emphasizes, insists, actualizes its metaphors. PRISM OF REALITY is a new artist-run arts journal that treats culture as de facto and absolute, itself constitutive of reality. In these pages, we twist the self-actualizing rhetoric of the New Right into a renewed radical politic. We aim to raise the stakes of art and art discourse. These are our materials, our gestures, our cinemas, our utopias; our metaphors. Prism of Reality is distributed internationally in print and online, and is released every nine months.
Issue 1 features
MEGHANN McCRORY and MICHAEL PARKER on WHY UTOPIA NOW?;
MATT SIEGLE on GESTURE PERFORMANCE;
JAMES BENNING in conversation with CHIARA GIOVANDO and TRAVIS DIEHL on the films of KEN JACOBS;
and GEORGIA KENNEDY on our MATERIAL CONDITIONS //
plus reviews by TRAVIS DIEHL;
AMY HOWDEN-CHAPMAN; STEVE KADO; and JON RUTZMOSER of work by THE WOOSTER GROUP;
GEORGE HERMS; SIMON FUJIWARA; and ROBERTO CUOGHI //
with a HAND-SILKSCREENED COVER image photographed by IAN JAMES.
