This free, one-day seminar about public art and socially engaged practices, focusses on pan-European collaboration and access to EU funding. It provides a rare opportunity to hear leading artists, curators and funding specialists in the field, and is open to all who have an interest in art in the public realm.
The day will be divided into a morning session in which artists Kathrin Bohm, Nils Norman and independent curator Michaela Crimmin offer presentations on their work, and an afternoon workshop led by Christoph Jankowski, European Information Manager at Visiting Arts, the UK cultural contact point for the European Commission's Culture programme. There will also be an opportunity to join a tour of selected public art works in Milton Keynes.
Kathrin Bohm will speak from the perspective of her experience of working on pan-European projects and partnerships, such as Rhyzom/Eco-Nomadic-School. Nils Norman works internationally across the disciplines of public art, archictecture and urban planning, generating projects and collaborations with museums and galleries, informed by local politics and ideas on alternative economic, ecological systems and play. Michaela Crimmin is an independent curator and co founder of Culture and Conflict (arts and cultural activity in conflict/post-conflict situations). Christoph Jankowski has considerable knowledge and experience of European Arts and cultural projects and networks, the European Union and European funding.
