Online courses for curators and artists by Node Center

The Node Center for Curatorial Studies Online Program was established in Berlin in 2011, in response to a growing demand from the international community for a platform to discuss and examine curatorial practices.

The program uses effective tools to enable international exchange and training for students in the contemporary art context within a Virtual Learning Environment, facilitating rich interaction through multimedia material, weekly video-conferences and personal feedback from the lecturers.

AVAILABLE COURSES


01. Exhibition design

Lecturer: Iohanna Nicenboim
Duration: From March 15th to April 12th, 2013
Application deadline: February 26th, 2013
Participation fee: 145€

This course examines the planning and designing of three-dimensional environments that
encourage visitor's understanding, participation, and emotional engagement. Participants will learn different tools to understand and manipulate space using from simple existing elements to design graphics or multimedia in order to make the exhibition content more clear and accessible.

Following the course participants will learn practical tools to observe a situation, create a design brief and develop a presentation of an exhibition design proposal.

02. Professional presentation for artists

Lecturer: Lauren Reid
Duration: March 5th – April 2nd, 2013
Application Deadline: February 26th, 2013
Participation fee: 145€


This course is designed for emerging artists looking to effectively represent themselves to the broader art community – art spaces, galleries, curators, grant juries- by providing the basic tools for professional presentation of their work. Following the course participants will have a completed CV and portfolio that they can use in the future and will come away with practical skills on how to deal with the art world.
