Eighty-six artists will show their work on the second edition of Region 0. The Latino Video Art Festival of New York, which will take place on May 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2013 at NYU's King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center.
About 1,000 video artworks, of extreme good quality, were submitted in response to Region 0 open call. Eva Mendoza Chandas, curator of the festival, screened all of them and made the final selections. Region 0 jury members Chus Martinez, (Chief Curator of El Museo del Barrio in New York) and Octavio Zaya (independent curator and curator of the Spanish Pavilion for the 55th Biennale of Art in Venice in 2013), will grant two special mentions. These final awards will be announced on May 18th during the closing ceremony of the festival.
A total 574 creative artists from US, Latin America, Portugal and Spain presented their works, with a final countdown of bout 1,000 pieces.
Region 0 showcases current trends in the field of video art, highlighting the distinct conceptual and technical approaches of the participating creators.
