The Skaftfell Residency Program Call for applications for 2014

Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art runs a residency program in Seydisfjordur, East Iceland.
The program is now open for applications for a residency in 2014 with deadline September 1st.

The program is aimed at visual artists but artists working in intermediate fields are eligible to apply regardless of the nature of their primary profession or education within the arts. Group and family applications are welcome.

The Skaftfell residency program aims to foster a community made up of artists and the general public in the rural setting of East-Iceland, invite artist to live and work in a unique micro community were creativity is applied to every day life, create and nurture an inspiring environment and facilitate circumstances for artists to experience, reflect and explore new angles to their artistic work and provide conditions that stimulate a dialogue between art and life.

Each residency period is from 1 - 6 months, however applications for a residency with duration of more than 1 month are preferred.

Available are three types of residencies :
- Independent residency for 1-6 months, no grant included
- Two month residency with a grant for Nordic or Baltic citizens
- Residency with a grant for German citizens

Facilities :
The residencies are located in three different houses in the town of Seydisfjordur. They have two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, kitchen, a living room area and studio/working facilities and are equipped with internet, beds, dining sets, duvets, linen and towels for 5 people. Applicants must use the electronic application form found on the Skaftfell webpage.
Applications are only accepted during the open call from 1st of june till 1st of september 2013.

For the independent residency, Skaftfell charges the following fee :
Skaftfell - 85.000 ISK
Holl - 75.000 ISK
Nordurgata - 85.000 ISK

Confirmation fee, worth one month, is due at booking.
