Videoart at Midnight
BABYLON cinema, big cinema hall
Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Berlin-Mitte
Germany
'Videoart at Midnight' is a project by Olaf Stüber and Ivo Wessel.
For more then four years these two art enthusiasts show moving image artworks in the big cinema hall of the renowned BABYLON film theatre in the Mitte district of Berlin.
Once a month on a Friday, always at midnight. Each evening is dedicated to one artist. Usually, the artists are present – it is their night. First releases are often shown, and sometimes live acts by the artists (performances, concerts, etc.).
The aim of 'Videoart at Midnight' is to give an insight into the current video art production of Berlin's international art scene.
Having started this year with Harun Farocki, Douglas Gordon, Martin Skauen, Annika Eriksson and Martin Brand, the invited artists in fall are:
Friday, 27 Sept #47: Köken Ergun
Friday, 25 Oct #48: Candice Breitz
Friday, 15 Nov #49: Reynold Reynolds
Friday, 13 Dec #50: Hito Steyerl
'Videoart at Midnight' is a private non-profit initiative. There is no entrance fee, everyone is welcome.

The 'Videoart at Midnight Edition' is a video-art edition.
This edition has accompanied the screening program at the Babylon film theatre since 2012.
In a series featuring about ten artworks per year, with just a small number of published copies, this edition is building up a collectable contemporary document of video art – a purchasable anthology of a medium that is gaining more and more importance within contemporary art.
'Videoart at Midnight Edition' gives a growing insight into the current video-art production of Berlin's international art scene. There will be renowned artists, but also relatively unknown young and promising ones. The edition will publish artworks by 'stars' as well as continuing to search for new talent in the art scene.
Each artwork is unique and produced or selected exclusively for the 'Videoart at Midnight Edition'. Each work is published in a limited edition of 40 (+ 10 artist's proofs).
