Five Artistic Professors

The three Academies of artistic practice at the Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts, University of Gothenburg – the Academy of Music and Drama, the Valand Academy and the HDK-School of Design and Crafts – are recruiting five new professors to further develop their unique artistic research environments. The Faculty of Fine, Applied and Performing Arts was the first in Sweden to develop the doctorate through artistic research, and has actively promoted the international dialogue on the future of artistic research and artistic research education, generating a creative context for experimental enquiry through artistic practices.

Three of the positions are a part of the new PARSE artistic research platform that organises international research conferences, a peer-reviewed research journal (print and online), and promotes new artistic research initiatives. Read more about PARSE here: www.parsejournal.com.

PARSE Professor in Performative Arts at the Academy of Music and Drama
Specializations within the field can be in music or musical theatre/opera/performance/theatre with a central focus on methodological studies of, and reflections upon, artistic processes. The position is a 5-year, fulltime fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.

PARSE Professor in Design at HDK - School of Design and Crafts
Design as a subject establishes a dialogue between practice-based, theoretical and social issues relating to design and design practice. The subject focuses on design as design practice using methods and theories that are relevant the subject area. Significant for design competence is the ability to merge a variety of perspectives into a meaningful whole. The position is a 5-year, fulltime fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.

PARSE Professor in Art at the Valand Academy
Specializations within the subject area of art may be Film, Photography, Fine Art or Literary Composition. The position is a 5-year, fulltime fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.

Artistic Professor in Design for the Profile Area Interventions at HDK - School of Design and Crafts
Design interventions at HDK concerns how design and design processes - in dialogue with various actors and circumstances - work in their direct, actual and concrete contexts. The position is a 5-year, fixed-term position with the possibility of extension, 60% of fulltime.

Artistic Professor in Design for the Profile Area Design Studies at HDK - School of Design and Crafts
Design Studies at HDK covers a broad field - from the reflecting practitioner's knowledge formation concerning the design activity to the discussion and theory formation concerning design and design activities - inscribed in social and cultural phenomena in society, historically and in the present. The position is a 5-year, fixed-term position with the possibility of extension, 60% of fulltime.
