Kunsthalle Bratislava Open Call

OPEN CALL FOR SUBMITTING EXHIBITION PROJECTS,

which will be realized in 2014 in the space of the newly reconstructed Kunsthalle LAB.

Kunsthalle LAB* is the part of the exhibition space of the nascent Kunsthalle Bratislava. Its display windows are oriented to the frequented public communication of Square SNP. The exhibition space of Kunsthalle LAB would like to present the most recent, overlapping manifestations of visual art. Preferred will be contextual projects with a clear and dense concept, perhaps even directly reacting on the site-specific situation of the gallery´s location, or the opportunity of direct communication of contemporary art with the public space from behind the display windows of the LAB and its daily functioning.

Our ambition is preferentially to present projects
/ of interactive character,
/ site-specific,
/ working with light and sound– mediating the sensory setting of the viewer,
/ reckoning with the participation of the viewer, collaborative, collective,
/ performative,
/ confronting in general the traditional perception of art as an exclusively ‚artistic' discipline,
/ projects well and effectively communicating in the direction of the street´s space and Bratislava´s frequented square.

The opportunity to apply for the space of Kunsthalle LAB with an authorial project pertains to the time period May – December 2014. We will discuss the exact date of the exhibition with each selected author individually.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION:
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2014

THE APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN:
- filled out registration form
(please, specify the preferred month for the realization of the exhibition from May to December)
– detailed description of the project (on a separate page)
– CV of the exhibiting authors and the curator
– visual or other relevant documentation of the exhibiting authors (preferred format .pdf)

CONDITIONS:
Only properly filled out applications can enter the selection process, incomplete applications and applications received after the deadline will be aically disqualified. The selected exhibition project should be installed in Kunsthalle LAB in a pre-arranged exhibition period, with the consensus of both sides, for the entire duration of the exhibition. For this purpose the applicant is advised to indicate in the application form two preferred dates within the time frame from May to December 2014. Within the exhibition space it is possible to take advantage of the space of the display window. The precise dimensions of the display window can be found in the attachment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
The selection committee created by the team of Kunsthalle Bratislava will select from the applicants artistic projects, the realization of which will be supported by the contribution of € 2.500.

The results of the selection will be published in the beginning of March 2014.
