Open Call artist residency Kunsthuis SYB

The artist residency Kunsthuis SYB in Beetsterzwaag, the Netherlands, announces two open calls for art projects in 2015.

1 ] RESIDENCIES 2015 FOR VISUAL ARTISTS, CURATORS AND ARTIST INITIATIVES LIVING OR WORKING IN THE NETHERLANDS

Do you seek a moment for experiment, reflection, a place to deepen your research, or do you want to collaborate in a new way? Kunsthuis SYB offers a 6 week residence in the shelter of the Frisian rural village Beetsterzwaag.

We are looking for plans involving one or more of the following aspects:

- Research

- A moment of experiment within your practice

- Working with the local community

All applications should involve a plan for collaboration, with other artists or people from other cultural fields. This can be a fulltime collaboration, or having a more incidental /temporal character, such as meetings, talks, dinners etc, during the residency.

Your application will be reviewed by SYB´s programming committee. Eight to ten applicants will be selected for a 6 weeks residency at SYB between January 1st and December 31st, 2015.

A residency includes 24-hour access to a furnished apartment and studio space, organizational guidance, artistic feedback, publicity, a working budget and a presentation at SYB.

Application Process:

Applications should include:
- a document comprising following information: full name, date and place of birth, citizenship, postal address, phone number, e-mail address, website address

- a CV

- a project plan in which the research, the aim, the method and the desired cooperation are defined

- the reason for your interest in a residency stay in Beetsterzwaag

2 ] SUMMER RESIDENCIES 2015 FOR FOREIGN* VISUAL ARTISTS AND INITIATIVES

A summer residency provides an opportunity to do a project about the Frisan landscape and/or to engage with the village community.

Friesland or Frisia is a province in the north of the European country the Netherlands. Friesland 'Frisia' extends from the north-western Netherlands across north-western Germany to the border of Denmark (Vidå). We invite artists to react to the Frisian (cultural) landscape and heritage through their own artistic practice. With this invitation SYB aims to generate a dialogue among Dutch and international cultural practitioners or organisations and to open up for a new and larger public(s).

Two applicants will be selected for a six weeks residency at SYB between June 1st and August 31st, 2015. A residency includes 24-hour access to a furnished apartment and studio space, organizational guidance, artistic feedback, publicity, and a presentation at SYB.

The costs for a six weeks summer residency is € 1500, -

(partner and family are welcome). Applicants are responsible for their own traveling costs and costs of materials (working budget).
