The Stockholm County Council Cultural Administration invites artists to apply for proposal opportunities for an outdoor public art commission at New Karolinska Solna University Hospital (NKS).
Background
New Karolinska Solna (NKS) is the project name for a state-of-the-art hospital currently under construction. The new university hospital will open its doors to the first patients at the end of 2016.
The commission
Artists are invited to contribute to the outdoor environment in front of the northern entrance to the new treatment building. The treatment building will be used by patients and relatives coming to the hospital for radiation treatment. Here a well-designed and thoroughly planned outdoor environment is of the utmost importance.
The site presents opportunities for sculptures, light installations, reworking of ground coverings, etc. We place great emphasis on the strength of the public art work to harmonize with the architectural design, enrich the location and create a welcoming outdoor environment in front of the entrance.
Several artists will be invited to create proposals for the commission. Based on the proposals, one artist will be selected to carry out the commission and finalise the artwork.
