Job Description: Interns
General Requirements
We require 2 days per week (10 am–4 pm) for four months or a full-semester.
Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable within a professional office environment. Interns are expected to perform in the same professional manner as would an employee that is to maintain regular working hours, punctuality, appropriate conduct and dress.
Departments
Arts Administration:
The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Executive Director, Executive Assistant, and Office Manager. Duties include general clerical and project based work.
Primary responsibilities
• Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing mailing, and filing.
• Research as needed
• Preparation of Board materials
• Preparation of mailing materials
• Assist Office Manager with monthly mailings
• Assist Executive Assistant with Art Handling responsibilities including sales and donations and packaging artwork for shipment
• Assist Executive Assistant with paperwork related to Art Fair participation and preparing supplies for booths
• Gather featured artist information in Sculpture magazine for out reach
• Assist Office Manager with organizing inventory supplies
• Assist Office Manager with updating Master Calendar Bulletin
• Other duties as assigned by Director, Assistant, or Office Manager
• Assist with projects as they occur Skills

Fundraising and Development:
Interns will work with the Development Manager to conduct grant research, preparing materials to solicit program support and compiling supplemental materials to complete proposals and donor acknowledgement packages.
Primary responsibilities:
• Prepare grant materials and mailings
• Research to identify compatible foundations for ISC program support
• Collect data to help substantiate the demographic areas that ISC serves
• Assist with preparation of donor acknowledgement materials
• Preparation of preliminary Letters of Inquiry for support and supplemental materials
• Assists with writing grant proposals Skills:

• Excellent writing and research skills a must

Membership:
Interns will work with the Membership Department in a professional environment with a strong focus on programming, and communications. Candidates will assist in the coordination, and execution of its major education program, the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. This award was created to recognize excellent sculptors currently creating work in a graduate or undergraduate program, and nominees from schools around the world apply to have their work considered for the Award. Interns will also assist with the coordination and execution of the Outstanding Educator Award. This award was created to recognize the individuals who have effectively and passionately communication the knowledge and personal experience gained through the creation of their own work to countless numbers of students throughout their career.
In addition interns will be asked to assist with expanding its Resource Directory. The Directory is a collection of searchable pages on the ISC's website, www.sculpture.org, which display information on galleries, museums, sculpture parks & gardens, local sculptor's groups, businesses offering services to sculptors, and more.
Primary responsibilities:
• Assist with the Student Awards Program
• Assist with the Educator Award Program
• Organize participant nominations, prepare program documents, assist in developing promotional materials
• Answer nominator/nominee inquiries
• Create PowerPoint presentations
• Be present and assist with awards events and during jury and committee selection meetings
• Researching businesses and organizations related to sculpture
• Work with members of the Directory to assist them in updating their own information
• Help with mailings of magazines and book/magazine orders for holiday campaigns

Conference and Events:
Conference and Events Intern is required to assist with the planning, organization, and marketing for conferences and special events. The Conference and Events Intern works primarily with the Conference and Events Manager and the Conference and Events Associate.
Primary responsibilities:
• Assist with coordination of on-site logistics for events
• Respond to conference/event inquiries by phone or email
• Provide support for staff, attendees, and speakers
• Assist with online registration procedures
• Research venues, travel options, and supplemental activities
• Draft PR for upcoming events
• Assist in the creation of the conference program
• Work with Development team to research donor funding and donated goals Skills:

Web and Portfolio:
The Web and Portfolio Intern works to assist in updating the organizations website and is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the members' portfolio pages on our website. The Web and Portfolio Intern works with all departments within the ISC and is supervised and reports to the Web Manager.

• Create, update, and maintain member portfolios
• Assist in website updates as needed
• Provide reports on web statistics
• Design and send out e-newsletters and email blasts
• Research and fact check
• Edit and proof text Skills:

Advertising:
The Advertising intern assists the Advertising Services Associate to meet monthly advertising goals for Sculpture magazine.
Primary responsibilities:
• Contact galleries and museums to ask for advance sculpture exhibition schedules.
• Compile advance schedules for both advertising and editorial departments.
• Compile list of contact information for galleries (from the direct contacts with galleries and from other resources within ISC).
• Send promotional materials to galleries (such as magazines, press kits) according to lists developed by advertising and editorial departments.
• Deliver promotional materials to galleries in New York or elsewhere within easy travel distance from Hamilton.
• Assist with e-marketing

Library:
The library intern works with the Executive Director to maintain the ISC's ongoing library project. The library intern will provide support in cataloguing the ISC's comprehensive collection of conference recordings, proceedings, books and other materials that document the 50 year history of the organization
Primary Responsibilities
• Physical cataloging of materials to include labeling, ordering and storing ISC historical materials
• Assist with locating missing event documentations (recordings/proceedings)
• Using online databases such as Library of Congress to research call numbers and develop systems
• Preparing books for shelving – cleaning, covering and labeling
• Assist with developing policy and procedure
• Monitor and take inventory
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor Skills
• Previous experience working in a library mandatory
• Strong problem solving skills
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Sharp attention to detail and well organized
• Willingness to work in a team environment
