Workshop studio visit and introduction of important Czech contemporary art photographer Ivan Pinkava
The Shift School is honoured to offer the workshop Studio Visit and Introduction of Most Important Czech Contemporary Art Photographer IVAN PINKAVA on the 3rd and 4th July. You'll have the opportunity to visit the studio of Ivan Pinkava nearby Prague, see is archive, watch him at work and take pictures with him to a biographical subject.
Principal theme in Pinkavas work are loud the director of the Kunsthalle Rudolfinum in Prague, Petr Nedoma '... exactly pointed parallels, quotations and connotations to major incidents of European culture. Pinkava uses the human body and face as a mirror of cultural significance, without resigning the unique identity of the actual people. The figures carefully arranged in multiplied scenes and positioned through gesture, expression and attributes they favour their own identity and on further meanings they refer clearly identifiable as figures from myths, biblical events and insights into the inner lives, next to the cultural memory that arise from history the visual arts and literature.
03.07. 19-21 hrs: Shift School, Schützenplatz 5, 01067 Dresden Introduction into the artistic work of Ivan Pinkavas by Kristin Dittrich, art historian, photography specialist and Head of Shift School.
04.07.:Trip Dresden - Prague, Czech Republic

7:30 hrs: Departure at Schützenplatz 5, 01067 Dresden
10 – 18:30 hrs: Studio visit and presentation by IVAN PINKAVA, interview with the artist by Kirstin Dittrich. Explanation of practical workshop task of biographical theme 'About Me / Us' by Ivan Pinkava. Participants have to deal with their own inner life (world) and create images.
Lunch.
Implementation of photographic tasks under guidance of the artist. Evaluation and discussion of the results.
19:00 hrs: Return to Dresden.
Arrival in Dresden around 22:00 hrs.
* Getting to Prague: The journey is self organized, which means we'll form carpools. We don't stay over in Prague, if you do want to stay longer in Prague, please let us know in advance. If you want to stay in Dresden, can also contact us. Good and affordable accommodations are available.
About Shift
Shift is the new school in Dresden, Germany, for photography in fine arts.
The goal of the school is to help to further develop photographers technique and artistic aspects of talented photographers. The educational staff consists of internationally, successful contemporary artists of the current generation.
Participants are able to chose their subjects in their preferential field of interest:
• making photography
• collecting photography
• curating photography and
• writing about photography.
Participants have the chance to choose individual modules and integrate their education with practical opportunities. The school is delighted to offer short courses of one evening or one day, a 5 day intensive courses (1 theme, 1 teacher, 1 result per day) taught by an international team of 5 great contemporary photographers with a vast array of knowledge and experience an a module course over six months. These courses will be an excellent test of what the school has on offer in future. These pilots run since September 2014 until December 2016
