With the project 'Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) - Intellectual Free Trade Zone' the Nassauische Kunstverein Wiesbaden opens its exhibition rooms for artists who, due to their flight, have newly arrived in the Rhine Main region.
The personal Curriculum Vitae, the universally recognized documentary list of the individual life, training and workstations, submitted for a new start or a new job – suffers due to the flight a massive disruption. What happens after such an interruption? How can the individual biography continue meaningful and substantial, once survival is ensured? People, who have left everything behind, because of the lack of livelihood for themselves and their families, are personally in an extreme situation of transition. Torn from their former social environment they relocate themselves geographically and culturally in another, mostly foreign country.
Often in the cramped circumstances of the temporary accommodations there is no space for individual artistic development and work space for artists – therefore the Nassauische Kunstverein Wiesbaden provided free Studio space and material for the continuation of their creative work.
'Our House is large enough and remains open. There will be still room for more artist to arrive, who have belatedly learned of this opportunity! This will be our Signal.' (Elke Gruhn)
The works produced in the workshop phase, as well as existing works of the artists involved are on display in the exhibition 'Curriculum Vitae (C.V.) – Intellectual Free Trade Zone'. For each participant, the Nassauische Kunstverein of the Hessian State Capital Wiesbaden developed a personal publication which is essential to reconnect to their career and for a useful continuation of the personal C.V. The way into the European art scene is paved; the voices of their artistic concern must be made audible. In the conception of the exhibition it has been deliberately refrained to give the exhibition an overlaying title, as not to thematically constrict the artists who share only the experience of the flight and have very different cultural backgrounds. It is rather a matter of every single position - a wide range of artistic practices and international positions opens up highly topical issues.
