Detailed description of the position
Regular position of professor in visual and media arts with an internationally recognized practice that exhibits a critical and theoretical engagement with the practice of painting in the context of contemporary art and painting's insertion in different contexts.
The candidate will have a solid knowledge of contemporary issues in painting, particularly in relation to the image and its materiality. He/she will have an extensive knowledge of the materials used in the practice of painting, including traditional and contemporary techniques. A versatility in the candidate's practice and teaching will be considered to be a major asset. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at introductory levels in relation to painting's fundamentals. The candidate should demonstrate a capacity to develop relationships with the other disciplines that are taught in the École des arts visuels et médiatiques.
The candidate's application must provide evidence of:
o artistic production and implication in the field of art;
o college or university teaching experience, or a pertinent equivalent of that experience;
o a capacity to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and to participate in activities that promote the university's visibility as well as an ability to develop new programs or orientations;
o a capacity for team work;
o a capacity to assume administrative duties and program direction;
o a capacity to develop research projects;
o a capacity to direct student research and creation projects at the masters in visual in media arts and Doctorate in the studies and practices of the arts level, PhD levels;
o a master's degree in visual and media arts or equivalent, or a master's in another pertinent discipline.

SALARY: According to the terms of the SPUQUQAM agreement.
Please note, all courses at the Université du Québec à Montréal are given in French. Consequently, the successful candidate will have to have a good command of French at the time of the hire.
