Thurup Hus – Artist-in-Residence

Artist in Residence Thurup Hus 2017

Assens Art Council would hereby like to invite applications for a month's free residence in the former artist's home Thurup Hus. The offer is aimed at professional working artists.
The residency is from Friday 1st September 2017 until Saturday 30th September 2017.
The artist Børge Thurup lived in Thurup Hus until 2005. Thurup Hus is an old country house, built in the 1800's near the harbour town of Assens in Denmark. The house is now used as an artists' retreat.
The buildings have been beautifully restored in the original 19th century style with a firewood stove, open fireplace, old-fashioned baking oven and petrol lamp lighting. There is, however, also an annex with modern facilities such as a toilet, shower and a washing machine.

Those who apply for residency must be prepared to live under the conditions as described above – wholesome yet old-fashioned without modern comforts.
The idea is that the artist will make acquaintances with local artists and art institutes during their residency.
Assens Art Council will review applications and select the successful candidate.

Assens Art Council will award priority to applications from artists who have particular interest in working with the following themes: state of the planet, nature, organic environmentalism and sustainability.
