Info
We would like to thank all the involved partners – artists, curators and organizers for a successful year 2016. This year we could expand our WRO Res international artists-in-residence program at WRO Art Center thanks to the cooperation with the A-i-R Wro program run within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw, the Goethe-Institut Cracow and the C. Rockefeller Center in Dresden.
Starting from August till December, we had the pleasure to host Claudia Schouten from Arnhem and her colleague Erik Tlaseca from Mexico City, Katharina Swoboda from Graz, Andrey Ustinov from Cologne and Ronny Szillo from Leipzig. We could also recommend Ewa Rebeka Służyńska from Wrocław for a residency organized within a new collaboration with the C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts in Dresden. These residencies have resulted in new insights and projects with a potential to be continued, some of the works produced or conceived by the artists during their residencies in Wrocław will be premiered during the 17th Media Art Biennale WRO 2017 DRAFT SYSTEMS to be opened on May 17-21, 2017.
WRO Art Center is an independent public benefit organization specializing in areas where contemporary art and culture intersect with developing media. The WRO Res program curated by Agnieszka Kubicka-Dzieduszycka is aimed at artists working within the broadly defined field of media art; it is process-oriented, it does not have to end with a finished work. The guest artists are included in the WRO Art Center's daily activities and encouraged to directly interact with the audience. We look for independently working artists with a sharing collaborative attitude, being curios about the new context they experience during their residency. What we offer to our artists-in-residence is a result of the support offered by our partners, therefore each year our residency program is designed in a slightly different way.
Follow our website to look for new residency opportunities in 2017, open calls with exact details will be announced in a timely manner. We are looking forward to seeing you in Wrocław as our guest artists or visitors of the Media Art Biennale WRO 2017.
