The outstanding programme of the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts offers a special focus on artistic techniques in combination with a contemporary individual art practice. Bernhard Cella will produce Artists' books, Lukas Pusch will direct the printmaking course and Senam Okudzeto will teach Unorthodox approaches to drawing.
The Summer Academy welcomes your application to participate in one of these or 19 further courses. Priority application deadline is 2 May 2016.

THE BOOK AS PRINTED SPACE – CONCEPT AND PRINTED WORK

Vienna-based artist Bernhard Cella is known for his Salon für Kunstbuch, that he is running in the 21er Haus in Vienna since 2011. His course deals with the current status of the printed (analogue) book and concomitant questions. It enables participants to design and develop their own publications, from the initial idea, through the conception, right up to the finished product.

Senam Okudzeto
UNORTHODOX APPROACHES TO DRAWING

Senam Okudzeto considers herself a post-national artist as she lives and works in the USA, Europe and West Africa. Currently she is the Edith Bloom/Jesse Howard, Jr. Rome Prize Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. Her course is open to anyone keen on drawing. This class mixes unorthodox and conventional drawing techniques with an aim of both improving drawing skills and developing experimental approaches to drawing and representation.

Lukas Pusch
PRINT PRINT PRINT

Although the works of the Vienna artist Lukas Pusch are often regarded as provocative, his priority is image-finding and artistic autonomy. Together with the participants in his course Lukas Pusch will explore various techniques of classical printmaking, such as etching, woodcut and silkscreen, as well as experimenting with alternative methods. They will learn not only new techniques, but also ways of developing their own work.

Regular application

All prospective participants must apply for acceptance. On the basis of the submitted dossier, the teachers select participants. The fees are between € 450.- and € 1,200.-, depending on the duration of the course. Students are entitled to a reduced fee. All applications received by 2 May 2016 will be treated equally. Later applications are welcome, and will be processed in the order received, according to vacancies in the courses.

The Summer Academy offers numerous grants, usually covering participation fee only. Application deadline is 8 April 2016.
