At the Muthesius University of Arts in Kiel a Professorship in the Department of Spatial Strategies (Raumstrategien) is open and to be filled as soon as possible. At the current time the position is limited to a period of three years, after which tenure may be granted.
Scenographic and curatorial spatial Strategies / Theories of Spatialization of Knowledge (W2)
We are looking for a candidate who represents the fields of scenography and curatorial practice as well as their theory in research and teaching practice.
The professorship in the art-based/applied department of Spatial Strategies (Raumstrategien) augments and connects the existing professorships in the studies of Scenography/Interior Design (BA) and Spatial Strategies / Raumstrategien (MA).
An original theoretical position and an art-based research methodology are a pre-condition, the mediation of a theoretical foundation and the dissemination of design-competence in the framework of studio projects form the centre of the required teaching skills.
Spatial Strategies (Raumstrategien) as a transdisciplinary department at the Muthesius University of Arts responds to the increasing relevance of art-based research as well as curatorial and scenographic design- practices within contemporary cultural production. The position to be taken is deliberately positioned at the interface of research, theory and design. The format of exhibition and critical scenography - also in the public realm - circumscribes the field of activity.
Preconditions are an MA or diploma in architecture, exhibition design, scenography or in related artistic or scientific fields, as well as a finished PhD (dissertation) or comparable artistic achievements. Furthermore, outstanding achievements in the realization of artistic research as well as in scenographic design conceptions are expected. The interest in interdisciplinary teamwork and in administrative work is mandatory.
The requirements of § 61 paragraph 1-3 or possibly paragraph 5 of the Higher Education Act of Schleswig-Holstein (HSG) must be met.
The University strives to increase the proportion of women within the legal possibilities in senior levels and therefore encourages qualified female candidates to apply. Women whose qualifications are considered equal to male applicants - in case of equal suitability and professional achievements, are given priority. The regional government is committed to the employment of severely disabled people. Therefore, applications who are severely disabled persons will be preferred if equally qualified. We explicitly welcome persons with an immigrant background to apply.
Your application including the usual documents like CV, overview of the professional training and studies (with credentials) and the description of your past professional history (work samples, publications), please send until 25th of April to the Bureau of the Muthesius Academy to the Attention of: Frau Bente Clausen. - Personalabteilung, Legienstraße 35, 24103 Kiel.
