MUU MAA ART BUS is a new project by Artists' Association MUU. Running for two years, it is a mobile art gallery that reaches out to audiences around Finland. The first tour of the MUU MAA Art Bus will take place in Southwest Finland on 16 July 2016.
MUU MAA Art Bus route 16 July 2016 is Turku – Kemiönsaari – Paimio – Mynämäki – Vehmaa – Turku, and the featured artists are Leena Kela, Veera Kivijärvi, Jaana Pirskanen, Antti Tolvi, as well as artist groups Trivial Zero and Moving in Kimito.
The two-year project aims to introduce the public to local artists and give artists new audiences. Apart from job opportunities, the tours will give artists a chance to present their work in unique sites and settings where it would otherwise be almost impossible to get any audience to attend.
ARTISTS' ASSOCIATION MUU is a national arts organisation that represents and promotes new forms of fine arts in Finland, such as new media, video, light, sound, performance, community and environmental art. MUU promotes the professional identity, practice, training and networking of artists, and it also serves as a lobby organisation in cultural policy. Being a multidisciplinary organisation, MUU plays a significant role in art policy as a promoter of new areas in fine art. As of July 2016, MUU has 650 artist members.
The two-year MUU MAA Art Bus project is supported by
the Ministry of Education and Culture
