LUCIA AND THE PRISONERS
Santiago Sierra
Gallery On The Move in collaboration with National Gallery of Arts Tirana
From April 13 until May 1, 2017

Gallery On The Move is proud to present Santiago Sierra's solo screening 'Lucia and the Prisoners', in collaboration with National Gallery of Arts in Tirana. This presentation consists in four films: 'Veterans of the Wars of the Afghanistan, Iraq and Northern Ireland Facing the Corner', 'Destroyd Words', 'Burned Buildings' and 'Lucia and the Prisoner'. This project was supported by the Studio Sierra and The Prometeo Gallery di Ida Pisani in Milan.

'Lucia and the Prisoners' is a continuation of the project by Gallery on the Move which started in 2011 and besides the solo presentations of videos and films, has promoted as well the tour screening of 'All About These… Ladies and Gentlemen', presented at Viafarini Milan, Co-Pilot Istanbul, National Gallery of Arts Tirana, Arte Studio Bucharest, Soma Mexico and Temporary Gallery Cologne. Also from this screening are presented two films from artists Anri Sala and Ferhat Ozgur at Film Cologne 2014.

Santiago Sierra was born in Madrid in 1966, where he currently lives. He studies visual arts in Mexico City, Madrid and Hamburg, amongst others with Franz Erhard Walther. Since the mid nineties Sierra realizes a large number of projects, offensively adressing repression and expoitation as he meets them in differnet parts of the world. Sierras work stems from a critical reconsideration of minimalism, with a performative sculptural practice as the core of his engagement, accompanied by photographies, videos and films. Some of his most remarkable and controversial projects originate from collaborations with institutions such as Magasin3 Stockholm Konsthall (2009), Kestnergesellschaft Hannover (2005) and Kunsthaus Bregenz (2004). In Germany, Deichtorhallen Hamburg/ Sammlung Falckenberg offers a broad overview of his oeuvre in 2013.
