Jochen Gerz is one of the most renowned German contemporary artists. His work with people has led him into the streets, into public space. This is Gerz´ first museum exhibition in 15 years. A text that connects the artist´s life and works to eight decades of contemporary history transforms the iconic glass facade of the Lehmbruck Museum into a giant book. THE WALK is a 100 metre pathway at different heights that takes visitors through this narrative. A look back, an unusual look at the museum from outside - and a look forward: towards the future of civil society.
