VEGA presents an art initiative challenging both art and public
VEGA|ARTS is a new visionary initiative that links Denmark's most important music venue with transgressive contemporary art in an investigation of coming together through art – which artistic experiences and situations can be generated between two different artistic fields and their publics. Over a one-year period (May 2019 to May 2020), VEGA|ARTS will include performances, installations, exhibitions, talks, workshops and thematic threads that combine the hybrid and performative art practices with the intense, intimate and cultural space of the live concert.
The participating artists are: Kristoffer Akselbo, Sidsel Christensen (NO), Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, Sophie Dupont, Jeannette Ehlers, Christian Falsnaes, Jenny Gräf Sheppard (DK/US), Kosmologym (DK/US/UK/NO), Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Marie Kølbæk Iversen, Ragnhild May, Ursula Nistrup, Hans Rosenström (FIN), Helle Siljeholm (NO), Søren Thilo Funder, Tori Wrånes (NO), YOKE

VEGA|ARTS wishes to introduce new or modified works and develop artistic productions that can be both collaborations between an artist and music live acts; a performance during an electronic concert combining visuals and a number of performers creating a unique experience of bodily and ritual presence OR as major events in the festival format, where works from several artists are installed and performed throughout the building over a weekend, such as A Colossal Weekend in May 2019, bringing dark, experimental music in the metal genre in new sensual relationships with the audience. It can be as radical experiences of performativity, the cultural body, representation, time and collectivity, sensual presence through interactive sound and light installations, or a new form of coexistence – an interdisciplinary event that builds on historical concepts such as performance, seance, ritual, environment and action that have had a significant history in the attempt to connect art and everyday life, human thought, socio-political contexts and existence.
VEGA|ARTS is initiated on May 10-12 during the festival A Colossal Weekend and will continue through May 2020 with performances, interventions, exhibitions and related events.
