The international contemporary art fair ArtVilnius'21 announced the date for its 12th edition. The largest visual arts event in Eastern Europe again moved to autumn and will take place 15-17 October at the Litexpo Exhibition and Congress Centre. The highlight of ArtVilnius'21 will be artworks on paper.
'Last year, when many international art fairs were cancelled or postponed, ArtVilnius was successfully launched with international participants. In compliance with all safety requirements, we achieved good sales results', says Diana Stomiene, the director of ArtVilnius, emphasising that all necessary health precautions were taken when organising ArtVilnius'21.
ArtVilnius is a place where art collectors, professionals, and art lovers can discover a vibrant art scene from Baltic and Eastern European countries and meet galleries and artists from France, Germany, Italy, Austria, etc.
Each year, the ArtVilnius selection committee chooses around 60 international galleries, and the Fair attracts about 23.1 thousand visitors. Along with the main gallery programme presented in the 10-thousand-sq.m.vvenue of Litexpo, ArtVilnius'21 will traditionally organise several projects and events. There will be a separate project zone where various art institutions and individual artists will present special exhibitions; an international exhibition of installations, sculptures, and performances 'The Path'; awards for best artists and galleries; meetings and discussions. During after-Fair hours, the organisers will be inviting everyone to the night tours to explore galleries, museums, and other events in Vilnius.
During its first decade of existence, ArtVilnius hosted such famous galleries as Suzzane-Tarasieve, Eric Mouchet (France), Ulf Larsson (Germany), Maksla XO (Latvia), local_30, La Guern (Poland). Among others, the ArtVilnius project zone had previously welcomed the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków MOCA, Vladimir Tarasov (Vilnius-New York), Zuzanna Janin (Warsaw), S&P Stanikas (Paris-Vilnius), the Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Centre, and the CAC – Vilnius Contemporary Art Centre. Famous artists – Hans Op de Beeck, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Bertrand Lavier, and others – were presented by the Lewben Art Foundation.
ArtVilnius'21 is calling for applications from galleries to participate in the largest event of visual arts in Eastern Europe. The deadline for applications is 7 June 2021. The application form can be found here: artvilnius.com/applications/
