Art Paris 2022, an edition focusing on nature and the environment

From 7 to 10 April 2022, Art Paris is returning to the Grand Palais Éphémère with a strong selection of 130 modern and contemporary galleries from some twenty different countries.

This 24th edition is characterised by making a strong stand for the environment with two themes, Natural Histories, a focus on the French scene and Art & Environment. In parallel, Art Paris has adopted a sustainable approach to its organisation in what is a first for an art fair.

In Natural Histories, guest curator Alfred Pacquement shares his perspective on the French scene with a selection of artists whose art addresses their relationship with the natural world, i.e., the animal and plant kingdoms. Meanwhile Independent exhibitor curator, environmental specialist and Art of Change 21 founder Alice Audouin, will orchestrate a selection of seventeen French and international artists whose work tackles environmental issues such as global warming and the loss of biodiversity.

Art Paris also encourages the presentation of monographic exhibitions - with a total of seventeen this year - whilst supporting young galleries and emerging artists in the 'Promises' sector, which provides a forward-looking analysis of cutting-edge contemporary art.

Artificial intelligence makes an appearance at Art Paris 2022 with Eco-Robotic Studio curated by Jérôme Neutres. It features artists Leonel Moura and Michel Paysant in an exclusive presentation made possible by the Guy & Myriam Ullens Foundation. In addition, an artwork generated by algorithms – the fruit of a collaboration between car manufacturer Alpine and the Obvious art collective – will be revealed to the public.

Finally, Paris is in the midst of an exceptional period of cultural and artistic renaissance illustrated by the opening of new galleries and venues, the renovation of existing cultural institutions and the inauguration of new ones. More than ever before, the City of Light is asserting its role as the place to be for contemporary art. The activities on offer as part of the VIP programme, reserved for collectors and art professionals (by invitation only), bear witness to the transformation of Paris's art scene, whilst showcasing the sustainable initiatives of its cultural stakeholders.
